First Line Friday

First Line Friday | Week 3 | Ghost Heart

It’s Friday, which means it’s time to open the book nearest you and share the first line.

Today I’m sharing from Ghost Heart by Lisa Harris and Lynne Gentry.

According to legend, their kind could never die.

It’s an intriguing first line, and let me assure you: the rest of Ghost Heart is both intriguing and nail-biting. It’s a must-read for medical suspense fans. My full review will post next week.

About the Book

A brilliant transplant surgeon. A rogue organ broker. A ghost child.
And the legend that could destroy them all.

A brutal murder convinces surgeon Mia Kendall there’s more than she imagined to the mysterious spike in heart transplant rejections. Determined to find answers before she loses another patient, Mia gets sucked into a dangerous international medical web. With time running out for her youngest transplant recipient, Mia is forced to partner with a disillusioned ex-military pilot who flies brokered organs across East Africa. But searching for the truth will prove costly for the unlikely duo racing to stop a madman before he annihilates a rare and cursed bloodline.

From best-selling author Lisa Harris and award-winning author Lynne Gentry comes a chilling, hypnotic medical thriller that will take you from the suburbs of Cincinnati to the jungles of Africa.

  1. This looks and sounds like it will be a great read! And I know I’m a few weeks late, but welcome to First Line Friday!

I have the first line from Thomas Locke’s “Fault Lines” on my blog today, but I’m going to share the first line from Candace Calvert’s “Disaster Status” from her Mercy Hospital Collection. The Kindle collection with all three books in the series is on sale this month for just $2.99, so I couldn’t resist!

“Fire captain Scott McKenna bolted through the doors of Pacific Mercy ER, his boots thudding and heart pounding as the unconscious child began to stiffen and jerk in his arms.”

      Thanks for the welcome!

I was lucky enough to meet Candace Calvert earlier this year. She and her husband visited New Zealand on a cruise, and I had coffee with her when she visited Tauranga. She’s a lovely lady, and an excellent writer. I’ll have to check out Disaster Status!

  2. Caryl Kane says:

I’m excited to read Ghost Heart!

    Here is my first line:

    Rebekah

In the fourth grade we made little rockets out of old film canisters, baking soda, and vinegar.
The Isaac Project by Sarah Monzon

  3. Becky Smith says:

That’s on my list to read.
    Happy Friday!!!
My first line is from The Spinster & the Cowboy by Lena Nelson Dooley:
“When the sharp rap on his closed office door roused him, Joshua Dillinger raised his gaze from the legal document he had been studying with intense concentration.”

  4. CJ Myerly says:

I haven’t heard of that book or author. Thanks for sharing.

Here’s mine from Misty Beller’s The Lady and the Mountain Man “Are you going to poison her the way you killed your last wife?”

  5. I’ve been hearing such fabulous reviews about Ghost Line. It’s on my never-ending TBR.

I’m sharing about Three Wishes by Lisa T. Bergren over on my blog today, but I’m currently reading the sequel, Four Winds, so I’ll share that here. 🙂

“Javier laughed and shook his head as we reached the top of the sand dune, Centinela loping in a wide circle around us. “I do not know if I can court a girl from the future and have a pet wolf,” he said in Spanish. “That is a lot to ask of one man.”

  6. Amanda Tero says:

After reading about ten fiction books in the summer, I’m taking a fiction break and reading non-fiction. 🙂 I’m currently reading “Arms and Equipment in the Civil War,” which is a super fascinating read that goes in depth with all of the weapons used, tactics used, etc.
